At the completion of this conference, the participants should become familiar with issues surrounding the management of neonates and children in the perioperative setting. The participants will be able to:

• Identify neonatal airway and ventilation strategie

• Discuss variations in management of neonates by medical specialties, each with differing goals for the care of these patients

• Discuss pain management, including novel block techniques in common pediatric procedures

• Illustrate techniques to reduce intraoperative blood loss and discuss transfusion policies

• Demonstrate evidence-based diagnostic and procedural ultrasound applications of relevance to anesthesiologists

• Demonstrate the ability to perform ultrasound-guided peripheral nerve blocks on the upper and lower extremities and trunk

• Summarize Extracorporeal membrane oxygenation
